A LEADING Newcastle bar, kitchen and pizzeria is inviting diners to try out its new dishes at a special event this week (9 May).
The Union Rooms, at Westgate Road, has revealed a revamped menu, featuring ribs, wraps, burgers and more.
And the venue is welcoming patrons to sample the new plates for free on Thursday 9 May, with Staropramen beer on tap and DJ Ryan Moscrop providing live entertainment from 7pm.
Diners can enjoy light bites such as glazed sticky sausages, halloumi fries and smoked chickpea hummus, try ‘naughty dorty’ fries with a range of toppings or opt for a bucket of pork ribs or chicken wings.
Large plates include fajitas and beer battered North Shields haddock, while the kitchen also offers a wide selection of pizza, pasta, wraps and hotdogs with various toppings, including chilli beef and brown ale and jerk spiced pulled pork.
The venue has also expanded its burger menu, with the Bombay lamb bhaji, topped with mint, yoghurt raita and mango chutney; the haggis no neeps but tatties, served with haggis, whisky glaze and grain mustard mayo, and the clucking katsu – panko crumbed chicken breast with katsu curry sauce.
The new American-Italian menu takes inspiration from sister restaurant, San Lorenzo, which is also owned by Cyclone Leisure and has venues in Gosforth and Washington.
Dean Lathbury, head chef at the Union Rooms, believes the new menu will be very popular.
“We’ve kept the dishes our customers love and introduced some new options for them to try,” said Dean.
“There’s something for every occasion, with pizzas and light bites that are perfect to share with friends and large plates for anyone heading to the venue for a sit-down meal.
“We’re really looking forward to getting some feedback on the new dishes on Thursday and I’m sure it will be a fantastic night with some great entertainment.”
