A NEWCASTLE brewery is giving wor fans – who can’t make it to Wembley – the chance to watch wor team with plenty of wor beer at the Carabao Cup Final next month (March).
Heaton-based Anarchy Beers is a firm supporter of the Toon Army, making a donation from every cask, keg and can of its Wor Beer sold online or through pubs and other outlets, to fan-funded NUFC supporters group, Wor Flags.
And it will be flying the flag for the team, with a special screening of the match, on Sunday 16 March, when Newcastle United take on Liverpool at Wembley Stadium.
Doors to the brewery will open at 12 noon with the match being shown on two giant screens in the taproom.
And, not only will tickets include a free pint of Wor Beer, but gourmet burger company Slackjaw’s – a regular at the Quayside and Jesmond food markets – will also be on site.
They will be fielding a six-strong team of 100 per cent British Angus beef burgers, from The Baconater – served with dry cured streaky bacon – and The Peppa-Jaw, with peppered beef pastrami, to Proppa Nutta, which comes with chilli bacon jam and peanut butter.
Others are Stay Class’y – a traditional burger with cheese, caramelised onions, lettuce and gerkins – The Bruise’r, which is served with blue cheese and smashed black pudding and the signature Slackjaw, with cheese, bacon and Jack Daniels barbecued beef brisket.
There is also The Alternative, a plant based, Thai influenced, vegan option made with lemongrass, lime leaf and mixed vegetables, a menu of filthy fries and optional nacho sauce pots.
As well as Anarchy’s craft beers, made on site, the bar is fully stocked with wine, spirits and soft drinks and, while parking is available, the brewery is just a two-minute walk from Walkergate Metro station.
““The 2023 final saw 300 tickets sold and we’ve increased capacity since then so now we can hold almost double that,” said Anarchy Beers Ltd operations manager Phil Beaty.
“Who needs Wembley when you’ve got plenty of Wor Beer, the best burgers, and Newcastle in the League Cup Final.”
Tickets for the screening cost £5.99 and include a free beer. The event is for over 18s only and tickets can be purchased online at https://www.universe.com/events/carabao-cup-final-nufc-tickets-P4HJ1Z
