A group of young budding artists are the latest to have their work displayed at Northallerton’s Civic Centre.
Year five and six pupils at Romanby Primary School in Northallerton have been studying a topic called ‘Gallery Rebels’ which looks at different forms of art including the history of art and the many amazing artists including Michelangelo, Leonard Da Vinci and Salvador Dali.
As part of the topic they are also studying persuasive writing and sending letters to various businesses in the town asking if their paintings can be displayed.
The pupils wrote to Hambleton District Council explaining that their exhibition would make a warm and welcoming environment for its customers and visitors and leave them feeling calm and happy. They also said it would give them a sense of pride that their artwork is being seen by a wider audience and help promote their school and what they have been doing.
“We are always delighted when a local school asks to display their work here as it gives them a chance to exhibit to a much wider audience. It will brighten up all visits to the civic centre – and everyone is welcome to drop in to have a look during office hours,” Kate Staines, Development Officer (Arts and Recreation).
The exhibition is open from 8.45am – 5.15pm Monday to Thursday and from 8.45am – 4.45pm on Fridays and runs until 21 July.
