BOOK lovers are invited to learn the writing secrets of two authors at an event which forms part of the 2015 Crossing The Tees literary festival.
Tim Leach and Lauren Owen will host a discussion at Acklam Library on Monday, June 8 from 7pm, on their latest books, both selected for New Writing North’s 2015 Read Regional campaign.
Tim’s book The Last King of Lydia tells the story of King Croesus, the richest man in the world (about whom the expression ‘as rich as Croesus’ comes) asks some of the big philosophical questions about family, loyalty and what it means to be happy.
The Last King of Lydia was shortlisted for the 2013 Dylan Thomas Prize, one of the UK’s most prestigious awards for young writers.
Lauren Owen’s novel The Quick features a pair of Victorian orphans and London’s mysterious Auegolius Club – when their two worlds collide a new world emerges, a world of romance, adventure and the most delicious of horrors.
Lauren is a PhD student at Durham University and developed the novel out of an initial idea during a writing workshop. Come along to meet the authors and learn how their books were created.
- Tickets are £5 and available on the door, from crossingthetees.org or telephone ARC box office on 01642 525199.
