BEAUTIFULLY ILLUSTRATED FOLDING HEART CARDS
New from Driftwood Designs – cheerful folding heart cards that will share the love at any time. Beautifully illustrated by artist Lizzie Spikes, these heart-shaped cards are inspired by Victorian puzzle cards. They fold out into four joined hearts, each panel bearing one of Lizzie’s wonderful pieces of art in bold colours, front and back, with a special section for your message.
There are two version of the cards available. One has a delightful flower design on the front, surrounded by hearts, with the other panels sporting floral motifs and a pair of doves on the wing. The second design is fronted by a red admiral-inspired butterfly, with the other sections bearing designs of hearts and flowers, and striking, stylised animal pairs.
Victorian puzzle cards – or puzzle purses – have their origins in 8th Century in Japan but they became particularly popular in the 1800s. A form of romantic token or love letter, the carefully-folded cards often hid private outpourings of affection, poems or even locks of hair.
