The two day event, held at the hotel’s neighbouring venue, the Boiler Shop, targeted the best local talent and encouraged people with various qualifications and work experience to come and meet the hotel’s senior team by taking part in ‘speed-dating’ interviews.

The interactive recruitment days were supported by the local InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG®) partners Newcastle College, InTraining, Gateshead College, Brenikov Training and JobCentre+ and also featured a presentation allowing attendees to learn more about the hotel and roles available.

Jane Klotz, Human Resource Manager at Crowne Plaza Newcastle, said: “The hotel promises to offer our guests a superb service and first-class experience that are distinctive to the Crowne Plaza brand.

“In order to deliver on this promise, we recognise the importance of the people who will work in the front-line of our hotel. This event really helped to meet some very talented and passionate people who will be a great addition to our team.”

Stands detailing the job roles available were set up around the event and candidates that managed to impress their interviewers were prompted to apply for particular jobs online.

Around 140 roles will be created in the run up to the hotel opening in the summer. All the job vacancies are now available to apply for online.

Andrew Fox, General Manager at the hotel, said: “We were looking for the right personalities and the right attitude first, and then seeing what roles these people would be interested in and whether they have the relevant experience or not.

“The event was an unqualified success and I am confident that we met some great people that will be just perfect to join the team.”

The management team now anticipate a high volume of on-line applications and will be short-listing candidates for formal interviews over the coming weeks.

InTraining, national training provider operating as a part of Newcastle College locally, was coordinating the event and managing the registration desk.
