Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Increased Demand For Mail Means New Jobs in the North East

CaptureDue to the success and high demand of hybrid mail services, Northern Mail are looking to create further jobs in the region. Northern Mail’s Teesside Customer Service Centre, which only opened 6 months ago has seen impressive growth and is already starting to expand.

Northern Mail which is part of The Mailing House Group, first started 30 years ago as a direct mail company. They are the only independent postal operator in the North East  and handle over 5 million pieces of mail every week. In 2007, Northern Mail achieved the status of licensed postal operator. This is awarded by the Postal Services Commission, who are the UK’s Government postal regulator.

The e2-post service allows customers to send their documents, such as invoices or letters, to Northern Mail via a secure portal electronically to allow the printing and mailing process to take place. This is both a time and cost efficient method of sending mail out through the use of technology reducing costs and workload for staff. All the customer has to do is use Northern Mail’s easy-to-use print driver tool which will post the letter in the click of a button. Northern Mail then take the rest of the weight off the customer and immediately begin printing, enveloping and mailing the letters that same day.

The E-post mailing service is also beneficial when considering the environment, as Northern Mail have provided a greener alternative of mailing which reduces the amount of miles each letter has to travel before reaching its recipient. As the service is ‘print on demand‘ it reduces the need for customers to hold stocks of letterhead, envelopes, ink for the franking machine or stamps and the trip to the post box in the rain! Gone are the days of having to destroy letterheads and leaflets because they are out of date this is all altered quickly online when required.

As customers can now print, package and post a letter without leaving their chair with a full online audit trail for less than the cost of a stamp, Northern Mail have naturally seen an increase in demand for this service. More and more new customers are taking advantage of this service as it is streamlining the way they post letters.

CaptureTruda Rodgers, who heads up the Teesside office said, “Previously many of our customers believed that by using a franking machine they have made good savings and are tied to using the franking machine option until the end of the contract however, after seeing a demonstration of how the service works they realise they can achieve far bigger financial and efficiency savings despite being within a contract, its all about working smarter and embracing new technology.”

“The benefit of using this system is two fold, customers make financial savings with auditing benefits that does not tie them into any contract and Northern Mail are able to create more jobs in the region. It really is a win, win situation!”

Northern Mail’s workforce has also been able to grow in the main base of Cramlington due to this increase in demand for their services. This growth has seen the family business awarded a place in the “North East Fastest 50” awarded by Ward Hadaway earlier this month.
