A fast-growing Fintech business is creating new jobs after breaking into a number of global markets and securing £130,000 in funding.
Darlington-based MyFirmsApp, which makes custom App platforms for accountants, was launched in 2013 and has since attracted over 750 clients and 150,000 end users.
The technology has also successfully been rolled out into Australia, South Africa, the US and Ireland, while the firm now has a 24-strong workforce.
As App usage accounts for 89% of the time users spend on media, accountants are increasingly looking to tap into mobile technology to better service their customers and the Company is anticipating further, rapid growth in the years ahead.
By 2019 it expects a five-fold increase in end users to one million, while also growing its custom App clients by a third to 4,000.
To help meet demand, the innovative Fintech business has recently bolstered its team and is poised for a new phase of growth. This follows the major appointment of Gavin Disney-May as Chairman and Investor to help drive the firm’s strategic direction.
It is now recruiting for 16 new members of staff, with its expansion aided by a £130,000 grant from the Let’s Grow campaign. A process Clive Owen Accountants helped MyFirmsApp obtain – the grant is supported by the Regional Growth Fund.
MyFirmsApp is working closely with local North East recruitment agency, Work Matters, to find suitable candidates for the available positions.
Having grown from a service out of North East-based Insight Marketing, which has served accountants with sales and marketing solutions for over three decades. Its journeyed into a fully independent Fintech business as a further sign of its growth, change and commitment to the market its also going through a re-brand with North East business ‘Better Brand’.
MyFirmsApp provides accountancy firms with custom Apps featuring accounting information, tax calculators, marketing tools and real time data collection – as well as providing a 24/7 point of contact for customers.
CEO Joel Oliver said a key factor in the technology’s success was a combination of amazing feedback from end users (the clients of accountancy firms) asking us to develop different tools and feature alongside the growing demand from accountants wanting to engage their clients in modern – forward thinking ways.
He said: “Accountants’ clients are increasingly being steered towards engaging digitally via their mobiles with third party software vendors and HMRC, which is aiming to make tax evermore digital.
“While accountants risk disengagement from their customers, SME clients in particular may miss out on the benefits gained through the impartial, expert advice that only accountants can provide.
“Our aim is to see more and more accountants take advantage of our truly world class solution to the challenge of digital disruption. We want to put accountants first with their clients so that at every point of digital engagement those clients turn to their accountant first.”
The development of a custom App platform was recognised as a natural progression from Insight’s work with accountants for over 30 years on practice growth and marketing solutions.
