Kim Tserkezie at TynesideAfter recently setting up her own North East based TV production company, Scattered Pictures, a North East actress is about to showcase her comedy writing and acting skills for the BBC.

Newcastle based actress Kim Tserkezie who is known for playing Penny Pocket in the hit CBeebies series, Balamory has been invited to showcase her new comedy show, “Lodger” to a studio audience in the 2016 Salford Sitcom Showcase on 6 July.

‘Lodger’ tells the story of the fiery relationship between Geordie party planner Sally and her new lodger, Eddie – an academic who has just moved up from the south to take up a new job in Newcastle. Kim and her Balamory co star, Miles Jupp have written the pilot episode. Andy Milligan who is the head writer for Ant and Dec and who previously  co-created and wrote Undercover has provided additional writing support. Scattered Pictures is also thrilled to have joined forces with the multi award winning Tiger Aspect Productions to produce the showcase.

“This is an incredibly exciting time” said Kim. “As well as co -writing the episode, I get to play the role of Sally. She’s an irrepressible character and will be such fun to play. I’m looking forward to gauging audience and BBC reaction when we take to the stage next month in Salford.”

Now in its fifth year, the Showcase provides an opportunity to see some of the best comedy scripts and comedy talent currently in development. The event has established itself as a key part of the commissioning landscape for comedy in the North with previous success stories including Citizen Khan, Boy Meets Girl and Hebburn.
