North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Last chance to enter for this year’s Redcar Triathlon

TriatholonTRIATHLETES from across the country are being encouraged to sign up to this year’s Redcar Triathlon taking place on Sunday 31 July, as the deadline to enter draws to a close this week.

Organised by Tri-Hard Events Ltd in partnership with Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, the event will accept entries until Sunday 24 July.

The annual Triathlon, a fast growing, exciting multi-sport event consisting of swimming, cycling and running, is set to welcome up to 200 competitors.

It will be a “sprint” event, which is a 750m sea swim followed by a 20km cycle section along the Esplanade, finishing with a 5km run along the seafront towards Marske and back.

Cllr Carl Quartermain, cabinet member for jobs, skills and leisure at Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, said:

“The triathlon is open to people of all abilities, from seasoned athletes to those wanting to take part in a triathlon for the first time.

“Unlike many other triathlons, this event offers one of the few sea swims in the region, so if you’re interested please apply before the deadline on Sunday.

“The event will also be very spectator-friendly, so we welcome as many people as possible to join us at Redcar seafront on the day to witness this fantastic sport in action.”

A wet suit and roadworthy cycle and helmet are mandatory to take part in the event.
