Screen Shot 2015-07-07 at 09.13.09Gateshead-based asbestos management company, Lucion Environmental, has restructured to support its rapid growth in the UK, creating an umbrella company, Lucion Services.

Lucion Environmental specialises in the surveying, identifying and analysing of asbestos containing materials for the infrastructure, construction, utilities, marine and offshore, and public sectors as well as providing health and safety training at its centres across the UK.

Since its inception in 2002, Lucion has experienced unprecedented growth, becoming the leader in the UK’s risk management market with 170 staff and a turnover of £11 million. In addition to its headquarters in Gateshead, it has established offices in South London, Leicestershire, Chester, Wolverhampton, Sheffield and Cambridgeshire.

In the North East, Lucion employs nearly 70 people and has just recently invested over £250,000 in its Gateshead premises to create the new lab space required to manage the increasing demand and extend office space to house extra staff. Company aspirations are to create another 15 roles before the end of 2015, including opportunities for trainee, graduate and apprentice surveyors, laboratory analysts and administration posts.

Managing director, Dr Patrick Morton, explains: “Over the past 12 years, Lucion has grown rapidly both organically and through acquisition. We started out as Lucion Environmental, primarily focusing on asbestos management.

“After listening to clients it became clear that there was a demand for diversification; delivering a broader range of training services and risk management consultancy which led to the inauguration of our companies Salbrook Vance Consultants and Lucion Training Services. After spotting niches in the market, we acquired MPC Remediation in 2013 and Innov8 Safety Solutions followed in 2015.

“While this is fantastic for our business, we recognised a need to bring in a simplified structure under Lucion Services to create an integrated offer that gives our customers a seamless service across all areas while still keeping the trusted and established brands.”

Financial Director at Lucion, Charles Pickles, added: “Lucion prides itself on the quality of our service and with Lucion Services, we are well positioned to offer customers complete environmental risk management solutions across a range of sectors.

“Looking to the future, customers can expect to continue to benefit from cutting edge technology, a strong customer focus and the thought leadership on which we’ve built our success over the last decade.”
