Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Manor Walks Lends a Hand with First Community Day

peopleA TEAM of volunteers from Northumberland’s largest retail and leisure destination has taken to the streets of Cramlington to offer some extra people-power as part of it’s first-ever Community Day.

Following a county-wide search to find one organisation in need of help from the Manor Walks Shopping and Leisure team, Friends of Horton Burn walked away with their services for the day.

As part of the Community Day, representatives from Manor Walks’ centre management, security, housekeeping, car parks and maintenance teams joined forces with staff from Asda Cramlington, while M&S Simply Food and Wilko made donations to support the event.

Activities included a litter pick along Horton Burn and across Northburn as well as painting goal posts on the playing field and railings outside of Northburn School and the bridge over the burn.

Bruno Coppola, general manager at Manor Walks Shopping and Leisure, said: “Located in the heart of Cramlington, Manor Walks is committed to helping to support our local community in creating a vibrant and welcoming place to live, work and visit.

“We were looking for one local organisation which focuses on education and skills development, local enterprise, environment or community amenities and wellbeing to help as part of our first Community Day and the team was delighted to be working with the Friends of Horton Burn.”

Sarah Pay, deputy chair of the Friends of Horton Burn, said: “As a local group of residents, we were delighted to have Manor Walks and its retailers help improve our area. This was a fantastic effort and it shows the passion and commitment that Manor Walks has to Cramlington and as a real partner in making our town a great place to live. We want to thank all the staff and local people who took part and we hope this is just the start of even more community action across the town.”

With over 100 retailers including Northumberland’s only multiplex cinema and a great range of family restaurants as well as high street favourites and independent stores, Manor Walks Shopping & Leisure in Cramlington offers a huge amount of choice to suit a range of tastes.
