Memories of the Black Forest, run by German-born Günther Seebacher, will be setting up shop at Newcastle’s Fenwick, as part of the store’s Oktoberfest celebrations.

And that means food lovers will be able to enjoy authentic German food during the run of the festival, from October 10-20.

Günther, who trained as a chef and worked across Europe before coming to the UK 22 years ago, also worked for many years running events at the city’s Mansion House before setting up Memories of the Black Forest.

Visitors to the stall will be able to enjoy classics such as Spätzle and schnitzel along with classic bratwurst and frankfurters at the Fenwick food hall.

Being invited to take part in Fenwick’s own version of Oktoberfest is a huge coup for the pop-up eatery, with Günther looking forward to showcasing his food to a wider audience.

“Being asked to take part in this amazing event at Fenwick is a huge achievement for us and we can’t wait to showcase my country’s delicacies to the people of Newcastle,” he said.

The Memories of the Black Forest pop-up will have a range of options available, including Berliner Currywurst, Weisswurst, frankfurter and traditional Bratwurst which is shipped every week from Germany’s Black Forest

The menu will also include Königsberger Klopse, a Prussian specialty of meatballs in a white cream sauce with capers and parsley, Kase Spätzle, a homemade Schwabian pasta and Schnitzel Roll, a thin pork escalope, coated with breadcrumbs.
