Middlesbrough’s New £250k State-of-the-Art Gym is a Knockout Success

Highly anticipated multi-functional gym KO Fit has been unveiled in central Middlesbrough after a £250k private investment and smashing its opening membership target.

The state-of-the-art facility, which is located on the top floor of The Co-operative Buildings on Linthorpe Road, opened in March and has more than 300 pieces of gym equipment.  An additional £100,000 of equipment will delivered in late April.

The 10,000 sq ft gym has strategically zoned areas for cardio, free weights and strength, exercise classes and spinning, plus a 20-metre sprint track with prowler lane and a functional area with an eight-metre bespoke rig.  The open plan space, with a 360-degree view of Middlesbrough, also has a bistro and tanning facilities.

KO Fit is privately-owned by Nick Hall, a gym entrepreneur and fireman.  This is Mr Halls second gym to open in the Tees Valley after the success of the smaller centre in Darlington, which opened in 2012.

Mr Hall, said: After one year in development we are excited to open our doors to KO Fit; we have created a state-of-the-art gym with unrivalled equipment in the region.

My experience training and working within the health and fitness industry for more than 20 years has shown me that customer service and interaction is key.  We want our members to maximise the benefits of engaging in classes and interacting with our trainers on a one-to-one basis.

We have been overwhelmed by the response of people signing up as members and we have well surpassed our primary target.

Maverick Sports Bar along with KO Fit has taken tenancy within Python Properties award-winning building within recent months.  The art deco property is now 90% occupied and is anticipated to be at full capacity by the summer.

Partner of the commercial property firm, Python Properties, Peter Broome, said: We are delighted to welcome two new tenants to our Co-operative Buildings, and to see exciting developments and investment in Middlesbrough.

The achievements of both KO Fit and Maverick Sports Bar have been astounding in such a short space of time, and our existing tenants in the property are also benefitting from the new first class facilities.
