Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

National recognition for digital employee onboarding software

Leighton are delighted to announce that they have been shortlisted as finalists in two categories at this year’s In-house Recruitment Awards. The Awards, taking place on 4th December 2019 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, recognise and reveal the exceptional achievements of the UK’s in-house recruitment teams, and the outstanding individuals that form them.

Amidst a wealth of entries showcasing some of the very best work from across the industry, Leighton has been recognised in two categories: In-house Recruiter (Individual Award) and On-boarding Strategy Award.

Leighton’s internal recruiter, Dave Cowell, is nominated for the In-house Recruiter Award, which highlights a stand-out performer within a team – an individual who has demonstrated an exceptional level of attainment, such as going beyond the call of duty, consistently identifying the best talent for the business or creating the most dynamic recruitment strategy.

The On-boarding Strategy Award realises the importance of having a structured on-boarding process for new recruits – a pivotal function in the retention and engagement of employees, equipping them with the necessary knowledge, skills and behaviours they need to excel.

Recognition in these categories resonates with the Leighton team as they reflect the organisation’s objectives to develop an effective, digitised employee onboarding process. At their core, Leighton’s bespoke software solutions aim to deliver a flexible system that aligns defined business targets with the organisation’s culture, to ensure a positive employee experience from day one.

HR teams and in-house recruitment functions continue to face a number of challenges, led by demands from candidates and hiring managers, to ensure new recruits quickly become successful, engaged members of an organisation. Acknowledging that the candidate offer process is all too often time consuming, paper-intensive and not fit for purpose in providing a clear, consistent start for candidates; is why Leighton created a product designed to give everyone the perfect start.

This is not an off the shelf product, as Leighton know you can’t squeeze a unique culture and ways of working into a box – it’s a bespoke digital solution. Leighton already work with esteemed global household names, tailoring the software to suit specific business objectives aligned to a company’s own unique culture.

Leighton’s proactive approach to the recruitment process stems from their motivation to ‘perfect hello’, so that each and every new starter within an organisation can receive a clearly defined and purposeful step-by-step process flow. This adds value to both the individual new starter and the business, as consistency of messaging and on-brand communications are delivered quickly and clearly, underpinning existing in-house HR and management team efforts. A major benefit to HR and recruitment teams is the huge reduction in paperwork, freeing up much needed time to focus on delivering more valued adding activity throughout the onboarding process.

James Bunting, CEO at Leighton, said: “I’m so proud of the team at Leighton for the difference they have made, but to see them recognised as finalists in this year’s In-house Recruitment Awards is an added bonus!

“Onboarding has seen a step change. The offer process has become quicker and more automated, enabling us to now spend time personalising the candidate experience during their notice period.  We blend digital communications (videos, guides) with traditional channels, such as a personalised welcome card from the SLT. A more experienced new colleague last month specifically took the time to tell me that he’d ‘never experienced anything like it before’.”

Among an array of useful, intuitive functions, the onboarding software features: mobile and web apps for 24/7 access, a buddy module and performance check-ins; providing all the assets and feedback required to feel fully supported and informed across the induction process.

James added: “I’m convinced all of this is helping to reduce the anxiety new starters have traditionally felt, which is why we have now accelerated the learning cycle and people are fully productive quicker.”

Since unveiling their new brand identity in May 2019, North East-based technology group, Leighton, has embraced a clear new direction through an ambitious strategy. The new brand fuses three strategic pillars; tech, talent, together, to allow Leighton to clearly communicate their offering, how they work and to showcase their culture.

Leighton’s custom software which digitises the employee onboarding process illustrates their commitment to developing and delivering solutions to their clients that maximise efficiencies and help businesses to thrive in today’s fast-paced world.
