A VOLUNTARY group in Middlesbrough is laying on half-term events thanks to funding from Natural England’s Winter Warmers fund.
The project encourages innovative events and activities which will provide an opportunity for people and communities to get out, discover something about the natural environment, and have fun.
The £380 grant from Natural England’s Northumbria Area Team is being put towards three events host by the Friends of Fairy Dell during the February half term:
- Nature’s Treasure Trail – Tuesday, February 17, 2pm
- Listen by Lantern Light – Thursday, February 19, 10am and 6pm
- Hedge laying and planting – Sunday, February 22, 10am
The events are free and open to all, but spaces are limited so it will be on a first-come first-served basis.
Chairman of the Friends of Fairy Dell David Everitt said: “Our group work on site every week to make sure the park is always in good condition.
“Parks should be enjoyed all year long and this grant increases the period when we can learn more about nature close to where people live.
“We are always looking for more people to get involved – so please get in touch through our web site.”
