Piper David Bark at the Stadium of LightBonnie lads and lasses are being invited to don their finest kilts for a special dining experience in Sunderland later this month.

On Friday January 23, the Stadium of Light will be hosting a Scottish-themed gourmet night, complete with fine food and live entertainment.

The evening, in honour of famed poet Robert Burns, will include performances from Scottish pipers and dancers, along with a traditional five-course Burns supper.

This includes Scotch broth with slow cooked beef shank, haggis, neaps and tatties with a malt whisky sauce and venison fillet medallions with bacon and vegetables.

For dessert, diners will enjoy a classic cranachan, made from sweet raspberries folded into cream, honey and whisky and topped with oatmeal, followed by a selection of cheeses from the Scottish border.

The meal will be accompanied by a selection of wines from around the world and end with coffee and butter fudge tablets.

Steve Welch, Business Development and Executive Head Chef at Sunderland AFC, said: “What better way to pay tribute to Scotland’s national bard than by showcasing some of the country’s finest food?

“We hope that this cross-section of dishes will allow diners to get a real taste of life across the border and perhaps to try something completely new.”

Tickets for the Burns Gourmet Night at the Stadium of Light are priced at £54.50 per person and must be booked in advance by calling 0871 9111555 or emailing conf&banq@safc.com.
