Stockton Mayor helps Teesside celebrate 25 years with weekend of celebrations

Mayor of Stockton Ken Dixon helped Teesside celebrate its 25th anniversary on Saturday 22nd, by helping to kick off its weekend-long party for the local community.

Over the two days, Teesside celebrated its birthday with live entertainment, music, food stalls, prize giveaways and more.

A variety of entertainment took place throughout Saturday, featuring live acts including roller skating bumble bees and stilt walking balloon artists. Local charity groups Zoe’s Place, and Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation were also in attendance to show their support for Teesside’s 25th anniversary.

Over the weekend, local street food vendors Smokelahoma Pit, Sundaes of Yarm, Pie Jackers, Crumble and Slice, Earth and Fire and Pork Store served up delicious snacks including smoke burgers, gourmet pies, chocolate goodies and freshly-baked pizzas.

Teesside also hosted a silver ticket treasure hunt on Saturday, giving shoppers the chance to win one of 25 prizes, including gift cards and exclusive hampers.

Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Councillor Ken Dixon, said: “It’s an honour to have been invited to celebrate Teesside’s 25thanniversary with local shoppers and staff. It’s a real asset to the community and the team there do lots to support local initiatives.

“It’s incredible to see how Teesside has flourished over the years, and I wish them many more years of success!”

Elaine Dunning of Zoë’s Place Children’s Hospice said: “Teesside has long been a supporter of our work, so it was great to attend the weekend celebrations, and help them celebrate a remarkable 25 years.

“We look forward to working with Teesside for many more years to come.” 

Diane O’Connell of Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation, said: “We’ve had a long standing relationship with Teesside over the years, so it was great for us to come down and be part of the anniversary celebrations.

“We’re excited to see what the future holds for Teesside, and we look forward to being a part of it.”
