Community Interest Company, Climate Action North, is celebrating its third birthday with the launch of a collection of clothing and bags made from organic cotton using low waste technology.
The range, which includes T-shirts, hoodies, baseball tops and tote bags, have been created in response to the increasing interest in the work Climate Action North is taking to combat the climate and environmental crisis.
Climate Action North’s Managing Director, Sharon Lashley, said: “Climate Action North was set up three years ago to drive the urgent action that is needed to address the climate crisis and we’ve gained a lot of support from individuals and business who have been involved with our activities. This collection of clothes and bags is our way of encouraging everyone to get involved and support us by spreading the word and wearing the brand”
Over three years Climate Action North has created and delivered a range of meaningful action-orientated projects to highlight ways the climate crisis can be addressed and bring businesses, communities and individuals together on practical solutions and ways forward.
Sharon said: “Our initiatives include Pollinator Parks where we’re working to rewilding the business and retail parks and Green Heart which raises awareness about environment issues among schools and communities. We also run major events raising awareness of issues such as plastic pollution, climate change and rewilding, all of which have attracted high-profile speakers and hundreds of guests.”
The initiatives have also attracted sponsorship pledges from the private sector, which has assisted in the delivery of practical action to address the climate crisis.
There have been numerous highlights including the first conference on rewilding in the North of England, which was hosted by naturalist and TV presenter Chris Packham and creating a wildflower meadow to support the survival of struggling pollinating insect populations at the North East Business Innovation Centre (BIC).
Sharon said: “We’ve worked hard to grow the range of action-based projects that bring about real and lasting change and we’re very proud that we have gained such great support and interest across the North of England. Our team are passionate specialists in their field and completely driven to achieve our objectives.
“The clothing and bag collection is a fantastic way for people to support our work and encourage even more people to get involved – we are looking forward to the next three years!”
