SPECIAL guests attended a performance by Teesside toddlers for World Nursery Rhyme Week.
Elderly residents from Ingleby Care Home, on Lamb Lane, Ingleby Barwick, were invited to Kids 1st nursery on Myton Road.
The children, all aged between three and five years old, sang Hickory Dickory Dock, Old Macdonald, Wheels on the Bus, and Ring a Roses, among other classics.
The care home residents, including Susan Rasmussen, 67, Shirley Naylor, 84, and Vera Flemming, 85, joined in with many of the songs.
The two intergenerational groups then decorated star biscuits together while enjoying refreshments.
Vera said: “The children all sing so beautifully.”
Susan added: “It was lovely to see how independent the children were. They could pour their own juice and clean up after themselves; the nursery is doing a very good job.”
Elias-James Teasdale, activities coordinator at Ingleby Care Home, said: “Susan, Shirley and Vera thoroughly enjoyed going to the nursery school.
“They said it brought back a lot of memories of when they used to sing nursery rhymes with their own children.
“It was lovely to see them having a great time singing along and then helping the children to ice the biscuits.”
Kelly Nicholson, manager of Kids 1st, said: “It’s wonderful to see the interaction between the children and the older ladies, especially the way they all seem to be relaxed with one another.
“The children just seem to know how to be a bit calmer and quieter when the older people visit us.”
