Tourist information providers in Northallerton now have information available at their fingertips!
Thanks to a grant from Hambleton District Council’s Small Grant Scheme, the town’s Tourist Information Centre (TIC) has been able to provide their volunteers with IPads, printers and web training to enable them to access information such as bus timetables, train times, details of local accommodation, opening times and costs of local attractions to help deal with the enquiries.
“Over the years the way people access information has changed,” said Vivien Cragg from Northallerton TIC.
“With less leaflets and booklets being produced and more information only available through the internet we have been struggling to provide up to date information for visitors and the local community without access to the internet.
“We receive over 5000 enquiries per year – 70% from tourists and 30% from residents and being able to use the internet and IPads to help them is a real boost for us and helps us showcase everything that Hambleton has to offer.”
The TIC is open Monday and Saturdays 10am – 1pm and Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday and Fridays 10am – 4pm
