Cheated of their rightful inheritance, the Dashwood sisters and their mother are forced from the comfort of their family home to live in a humble Devon cottage. But the eminently sensible Elinor and the impulsive Marianne are nonetheless determined to find love, chasing their dreams to London and back again.
We are delighted to be staging Jessica Swale’s bright and funny adaptation of this much-loved classic. Earlier this year, Swale won the Olivier Award for Best New Comedy for Nell Gwynn starring Gemma Arterton. Her charming, funny, and beautifully crafted adaptation wrings every ounce of heartbreak, irony, and romance from Austen’s dearly-loved comedy of manners.
For Austen devotees, this will certainly delight and newcomers to her work will be captivated.
